Dead to Me, explores the universal themes of love and deep friendship, intertwined with abandonment, betrayal and abuse. Verity, Ruby and particularly Archie, are vivid, convincing characters, who spring off the pages and into one’s life. Wilby too, embodies the maternal traits every child longs for. Ruby’s mother is a character you’d rather forget, but probably won’t. Loss and love lock horns for our attention, but in the end, good does triumph over evil, even if along the way we are kept at the edge of our seats.
