Dear family, friends and colleagues,
As this year draws to an end, I would like to embrace you all.
From my heart and soul, I thank you for welcoming Cat Therapy into the world with me, in 2023. It was my deepest desire to offer this memoir to you all, and I am so thrilled that I was able to. The warm reception it received was incredible and I have been hard-pressed to keep Archie’s ego in check. He has declined all invitations to appear in public, but that doesn’t mean he is unaware of his new status. His story is a true stray to royalty one, and he prowls his jungle like a king.
Every single book launch, talk, interview, review, and opportunity offered to me this year, means the world to me. I feel truly blessed beyond words. Thank you to the amazing Karavan Press and Protea, for helping to distribute Cat Therapy all over South Africa, and my gratitude to the awesome bookshops for stocking and selling this memoir. To Amazon Kindle, thanks for spreading Cat Therapy around the globe. If you read my story and it resonated in any way, I am grateful. Our journeys are interlinked and your challenges are mine.
It was my heartfelt wish to enter this new year with the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to this devastating genocide. Sadly, it has not happened. I feel helpless, as most of us do, and wish I had the power to change the world. My heart breaks for all the unbearable losses and even if you cannot see it, my hand is reaching out to you.
Today, I feel incredibly proud to be South African and I salute our nation’s brave, passionate heart. We have led the way in the past and will do so again in the future. And yes, we do have a major role to play in this world!
So, from one human being to another, wherever you may be on this planet, I reach out to you all in love and gratitude. My biggest wish is that 2024 becomes the year of peace, hope, and love for humanity. May we reconnect with our hearts and begin a world order where hatred is no longer welcome and genocides are unthinkable.
To new beginnings …
